چکیده

A basic ingredient of Concurrent Engineering (CE) is that all aspects of the product's life-cycle should be considered as early as possible during design. A key idea that has been adopted for the implementation of CE is the use of a team, in which each member is an expert on some aspect of the product in a phase of its life-cycle. In our work, we use a team of software agents. Our goal is to study in detail the interactions, con icts and con ict resolution that is possible with such a multi-agent system. The approach is to use Single Function Agents (SiFAs), each of which can perform a very specialized task, from a single point of view. The ability to represent expertise with di erent points of view is very important in design. These di erent points of view usually cause con icts among agents, and these con icts need to be resolved in order for the design process to be successful. Therefore, agents need to be capable of detecting and resolving these con icts. This paper presents a model of con icts and negotiations in the SiFA framework. A hierarchy of possible con icts is proposed and the steps of the negotiation process are discussed. Short Title: Con icts and Negotiation in SiFA-based Design Systems

Conflict resolution in collaborative planning dialogs

In a collaborative planning environment in which the agents are autonomous and heterogeneous, it is inevitable that discrepancies in the agents' beliefs result in con#icts during the planning process. In such cases, it is important that the agents engage in collaborative negotiation to resolve the detected con#icts in order to determine what should constitute their shared plan of actions and sh...

Improving Agent Performance for Multi-Resource Negotiation Using Learning Automata and Case-Based Reasoning

In electronic commerce markets, agents often should acquire multiple resources to fulfil a high-level task. In order to attain such resources they need to compete with each other. In multi-agent environments, in which competition is involved, negotiation would be an interaction between agents in order to reach an agreement on resource allocation and to be coordinated with each other. In recent ...

Towards a minimal hosting specification for open agent systems : the lessons of IP

In this paper we observe that the strategies adopted by many standards projects may unnecessarily restrict the range of agent control, addressing and communication strategies which can be hosted, and hence limit the adoption of conformant hosting platforms. We argue that a minimal hosting platform is required to achieve convergence to common standards. Using the example of Internet Protocol a m...

A class of multi-agent discrete hybrid non linearizable systems: Optimal controller design based on quasi-Newton algorithm for a class of sign-undefinite hessian cost functions

In the present paper, a class of hybrid, nonlinear and non linearizable dynamic systems is considered. The noted dynamic system is generalized to a multi-agent configuration. The interaction of agents is presented based on graph theory and finally, an interaction tensor defines the multi-agent system in leader-follower consensus in order to design a desirable controller for the noted system. A...

Adaptive Distributed Consensus Control for a Class of Heterogeneous and Uncertain Nonlinear Multi-Agent Systems

This paper has been devoted to the design of a distributed consensus control for a class of uncertain nonlinear multi-agent systems in the strict-feedback form. The communication between the agents has been described by a directed graph. Radial-basis function neural networks have been used for the approximation of the uncertain and heterogeneous dynamics of the followers as well as the effect o...
